The International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) is a global research-for-development organization.  ICARDA’s mission is to provide innovative science-based solutions for improving the resilience and livelihoods of the resource-poor developing countries. ICARDA’s aim is to enhance food and water security through the sustainable management of natural resources in the face of global change. ICARDA works in partnership with national research and extension systems, local research institutions and universities, taking into considerations the national policy frameworks; nowadays, ICARDA’s partnership programs cover about 50 countries across Africa and Asia, including Tunisia.

ICARDA has developed advanced capacities and infrastructure to manage geospatial data to provide tailored land management and planning solutions at different spatial scales, spanning from sub-national to regional. Recently ICARDA has developed the Option by Context web-based geospatial tool to provide contextual extrapolation domains to support decisions on how the best practices implemented locally/contextually can find application over large scale, and what benefits can be generated (thus supporting scaling-up).

ICARDA will contribute to the development of the Land Decision Support Tools, and will test them in a north Africa case study; in particular, ICARDA is involved in WP2, WP3, WP6 and WP7.
